The Story of Maglio Eventi: A 150-Year-Old Tradition
From Its Foundation to Modern Leadership
1875: The Beginning of a Journey
The origins of the Maglio family date back to 1875, when Antonio Maglio left his hometown, Massafra, to move to the charming city of Maglie, where he opened an elegant posting inn. Antonio’s goal was to provide rest for travelers, delighting their palates with his culinary treats.
It was within this structure that he began to “write” the history of Maglio Eventi.
Early 1900s: Expansion and Innovation
Gradually, Maglio’s products became well-known, gaining popularity not only in their café, which was always up to date, but also in private homes.
To meet the growing demand from customers, Maglio decided to further expand the range of services offered by introducing catering.
This service was so well received that it became the company’s core business.
Production of Artisan Liqueurs
In the early 1900s, Dante Maglio enriched the main business of banquets and home receptions with the production of artisan liqueurs.
Maglio continued to experiment with new recipes, and it was during these laboratory trials that Dante found out what would give a new start to the company: a chocolate coating would allow a better preservation of their products and their liquor-soaked candied fruit.
1960s: Growth and Consolidation
With the arrival of the 1960s and the economic boom, Vincenzo Maglio, Dante’s son, boosted the production of chocolates and almond paste sweets to meet the increasing orders received.
This was the time when solid foundations were laid for the company’s future and the two distinct but inseparable aspects of the firm—pastry and catering—were defined and consolidated.
Catering and pastry embarked on a path of growth, side by side, developing characteristics that would distinguish Maglio’s products and services.
Present Days: Continuity and Global Innovation
Today, Maglio’s legacy is in the hands of brothers Massimo and Maurizio, who, aware of the complexity achieved by the aforementioned two “souls,” decided to develop a separate company around each, able to promote growth while addressing specific needs.
This decision led to the creation of “Maglio Arte Dolciaria srl” for chocolate and almond paste sweets production and “Vincenzo Maglio srl” for event management.
The two companies aim at sustainable growth, upholding the values of tradition while adapting to a constantly changing environment.
