Tenuta Lucagiovanni
A Unique Venue for Unforgettable Events
For the past few years, the historical image of a horse-drawn carriage has been associated with the elegant façade of a countryside villa whose name resonates as a synonym of Maglio: Tenuta Lucagiovanni.
This former hunting residence of the Duke Guarini of Poggiardo is nestled in the heart of the Salento countryside. Yet, it announces itself boldly along the road from Maglie to Gallipoli, marked by an unmistakable avenue of palm trees guiding guests to its gates. What was once a self-contained village, home to the Duke’s collaborators and their families, now serves as the vibrant heart of this exclusive venue. Upon arrival, our visitors are greeted by the Piazza, a charming “agorà” where guests can sip an aperitif while waiting for the start of a ceremony. The Piazza can also turn itself into a dazzling open-air setting for a festive banquet, adorned with tables and sumptuous buffets.
Just beyond it, the majestic Villa, the former residence of the Dukes, stands as a testament to their legacy, embodied in its mosaics, frescoes, and elegant furnishings. Inside, its intimate rooms are perfect for ceremonies with a “home party” atmosphere. Adjacent to the Villa lies the Italian Garden, an open-air lounge room that hosts our renowned “Grand Buffet di frutta e dolci”.
Stepping out of the Villa and passing through the iconic Arch, a further hallmark of the estate, guests enter the The Orange Grove, The Aranceto. Here, the scent of blossoms and the vivid green of orange trees provide a serene space for appetizer buffets or a relaxed dinner under the cool shade.
Nearby, the Pergola offers a nostalgic nod to open-air banquets, evoking a Proustian charm of open air feasts. Beneath its canopy, long dining tables used to deliver a sensory symphony of sounds, flavors, aromas, and colors. Nowadays, illuminated by countless sparkling lights, it’s the perfect spot for an enchanting dinner “by the glow” of thousand stars or for a “bright” celebration of a civil ceremony.
Continuing along the Avenue, one cannot miss the grandeur of the Cedar of Lebanon . Its lush branches form a natural chamber, a shelter where its mighty limbs bend gracefully toward the earth, cradling the most intimate and heartfelt ceremonies. It is one of the favorite spots for celebrating a more “reserved” civil ceremony.
Behind the Cedar, The Main Hall emerges, an exquisitely restored former tobacco factory. Its origins can still be admired in the sweeping naves that invite creative adornments and bespoke setups, transforming the space into the perfect canvas for a personalized “mise en place”.
An elegant Winter Garden flanks one side of the Main Hall. With its Belle Époque-inspired Liberty framework and expansive glass walls, it offers a seamless harmony between indoor comfort and outdoor charm, enveloping guests in a symbiotic embrace of nature and design.
